The young man, Kevin Everett, who was paralyzed from the neck down during a football game with the Buffalo Bills, is walking again. (Baltimore Sun)
Kudos to the team trainers helping Everett on the field and the doctor who began lowering Everett's body temperature in the ambulance ride and operated on Everett.
Apparently the decision to lower Everett's body temperature not only protects the spinal cord against swelling, but it protects the brain and other vital organs. (New York Times)
These decisions made by trainers and doctors, not only saved Everett's life, but the young man is up and walking on his own.
Kudos to Kevin Everett who is working his tail off to get better. Clearly his determination and courage are helping him move forward.
The advances of modern medicine and the courage of this young man is simply an amazing story.
