Wisconsin Integral in Steele's RNC Win

Many may not know it, but Wisconsin played an integral role in getting the new RNC Chair, Michael Steele, elected.

RPW Chairman Reince Priebus was the Steele Campaign chair.

“Today the Republican Party took a major step toward renewal with the selection of Michael Steele as chairman of the Republican National Committee. I believe in Steele’s ability to move our party forward and I am extremely proud to have led his successful campaign for chairman.

Michael is committed to our conservative cause, has strong leadership skills and the ability to connect with and energize our grassroots supporters. Our core fundamental principles remain strong and mirror those of the majority of Americans so we must improve our outreach efforts in order to grow as a party.

Michael Steele will be a great new voice and outstanding leader for the Republican Party. As we work diligently to take our message to the people throughout Wisconsin and America, I look forward to continuing my partnership with him and at the RNC.”

-- Reince Priebus

Priebus is leading the RPW and a key player in the RNC's new direction of bringing our Conservative values back to the GOP.

Steele's Acceptance Speech

Steele Wins!

Whew- it was a nailbiter!

Go Steele

The GOP is currently voting on the next RNC chair.

Third round Michael Steele, my pick, is currently leading. Second place is Duncan, the same ol' same ol'.

We need a little hope and change of our own.

Hopefully the leaders of the RNC will see this and start moving the party towards our principles again!

Watch it live here.

When VP Joe Biden is out covering one of your gaffes...

When VP Joe Biden is out covering one of your gaffes, you know you are having a bad day.

Gaffe master VP, Joe Biden, is out covering our new treasury secretary's butt:

The Obama administration backed off Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner’s
statement last week that China is “manipulating” its currency.

Speaking of manipulating money, isn't that what Treasury Secretary Geithner did when he cashed checks from his company to pay his taxes, but never bother to pay his taxes?

Reaction to Ashley Judd dissing America

John Rich from "Big n' Rich" was on Vicki McKenna's show today. He heard about Ashley Judd's comment trashing America :

Judd: "It's so nice to live in America again".

Rich:"talk about your out of touch elitist attitude".

John Rich actually stumped with Fred Thompson in the beginning of the primaries.

Listen here

A Moment we can be proud of

Yeah, we got crushed in the final vote tally. Still, all in all, this was a great day to be a Republican.

Not one single Republican voted for the stimulus (bailout) bill. Not a single one.

I am proud of each and every one of them.

Yes, the Congress does need to act fast to get a stimulus package together.

But the package presented was no stimulus package.

It is a pork laden, furiously expensive package filled with political gifts to Democrat causes.

What we saw yesterday was a team of Republicans who spent a lot less time worrying about their political careers and amazingly put the interests of their country first.

We saw Republicans stand on their principles, not on their political careers.

Still the porky palooza bill passed the House.

This is a Democrats only bill.

President Obama attempted to reach across the aisle and he should be admired for that. I believe that Obama's heart is in the right place. I believe his politics and policies are wrong.

I know that some people misunderstand the Republican opposition. The opposition that folks see is not with Obama, the opposition is with his politics and policies. That is the way we should keep it.

The time for opposing Obama is over, he won the election. The battle has just begun against socialism and government power.

We must protect our families, our pocketbooks and our rights against a government that will take and take and take from us.

I am also not interested in a "no" vote only, the Republicans must offer credible alternatives. They also did that. In fact, quickly looking over the bill that was proposed, you can easily see with the tax cuts alone that the Republicans version of a stimulus may have gone a lot further towards stimulating the economy that the garbage that actually did pass the House yesterday.

Yesterday Republicans took a big step towards regaining their credibility with the folks and I pray this continues.

Now on to the Senate.

Where's the door?

Wednesday, January 28, 2009

Go get 'em Republicans!

We spend so much time beating on the Republicans, especially so over the last year.

Well, when we see them standing on the side of good, we need to cheer them on.

Sure it has taken them a little time to find there legs, but they are moving now...

Let me here you Republicans, can I get an AMEN on the following statement?

The counter-package would shift focus entirely from spending to tax relief. Though a full House vote on the Democratic package is expected in a matter of hours and President Obama said he's confident it will pass, GOP lawmakers are hoping their substitute proposal at least influences the final product.

I like this statement too:

"If government spending was going to get us out of this mess, we'd have been out
a long time ago, because that's all we've been doing," said Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio. "This is not going to work. That's why we've got a bill we think will work."

Too bad the Republcians did not figure this out in 2005, they may not have lost control of the House and Senate in 2006.

If the Republicans cannot get the Dems or Obama to listen to there plan, then every single Republican needs to vote against the Obama/Reid/Pelosi plan.

It is bad. The stimulus is nothing more that payback to their political friends and will not stimulate the economy in the least.

For more details of what is in the plan, visit Fred's blog.

You will especially like know that the Dems/Obama will be spending $726 for an after school snack program. Not dinner, lunch or breakfast...snacks!

Now I ask you- how many jobs will be created by children eating snacks?

Sorry-kiddies, Mom and Dad would be at home to give you your after school snacks and your condoms, but they are busy working overtime to pay for an extra $1.2 trillion dollars of Democrat/Obama debt!

I wonder if they will pass out the condoms and the after school snacks together? Boy that might save us a few million dollars!

The Obama Debt Act of 2009

We all know that the folks at the Wall Street Journal loves to make money. If they felt the stimulus plan would get the economy going again, they would jump in.

They agree- the frustrated Democrats are using this plan to enact every single liberal payout they can find.

Americans sit down, you are no longer welcome to eat at the Obama/Reid/Pelosi dinner table. Special interests go ahead and slide your chair up to the liberal greed fest.

On tonight's menu for you special interest groups : Pork Palooza, served with a side of hope and change

Check this out:

We've looked it over, and even we can't quite believe it. There's $1 billion for Amtrak, the federal railroad that hasn't turned a profit in 40 years; $2 billion for child-care subsidies; $50 million for that great engine of job creation, the National Endowment for the Arts; $400 million for global-warming research and another $2.4 billion for carbon-capture demonstration projects. There's even $650 million on top of the billions already doled out to pay for digital TV conversion coupons.

In selling the plan, President Obama has said this bill will make "dramatic investments to revive our flagging economy." Well, you be the judge. Some $30 billion, or less than 5% of the spending in the bill, is for fixing bridges or other highway projects. There's another $40 billion for broadband and electric grid development, airports and clean water projects that are arguably worthwhile priorities.

Add the roughly $20 billion for business tax cuts, and by our estimate only $90 billion out of $825 billion, or about 12 cents of every $1, is for something that can plausibly be considered a growth stimulus. And even many of these projects aren't likely to help the economy immediately. As Peter Orszag, the President's new budget director, told Congress a year ago, "even those [public works] that are 'on the shelf' generally cannot be undertaken quickly enough to provide timely stimulus to the economy."

No better words have of advice to Republicans has been given:

This is supposed to be a new era of bipartisanship, but this bill was written based on the wish list of every living -- or dead -- Democratic interest group. As Speaker Nancy Pelosi put it, "We won the election. We wrote the bill." So they did. Republicans should let them take all of the credit.

$1 Trillion

The House votes today on the $1.2 TRILLION bailout. (Yes, with interest, the bailout will be well over a trillion dollars)

For those of us in Wisconsin's 1st Congressional District ...Email Congressman Paul Ryan

http://www.house.gov/ryan/email.htm

The joke of a stimulus bill will probably easily pass Congress but will fail in the real world that we all live in.

Vote NO!

Apparently, just hearing the tapes is not enough, the Illinois state senate also needs visuals.

I kid you not, this sign was entered as evidence in the Blago senate trial...

Still think Obama is going to lead from the middle?

Hey conservative elitists and moderates, still convinced that Obama will lead from the middle????

Less than a week in office, our new President has given terrorists at Gitmo the same rights as every American citizen. Not to mention, he has promised to close the prison in a year- where are the terrorists going to go?

What do you think? Should we release them all in DC, they can live right next to all of the Democrats running the place, huh?

I am guessing that some of you must really be loving paying for abortions in foreign countries, huh? That is really middle of the road, right? Darn it all, it is not like we are having a nationwide financial crisis or anything???? We have plenty of money to pay for abortions in foreign countries.

Oh, today’s little gem… Obama decided to impose green restrictions on our automobile industry. Didn’t we just bail out the automobile industry? Well, I am thinking that there is no faster way to kill our US auto industry than Obama imposing mandates that the automakers cannot possible adjust too in the next year and a half.

Hey autoworkers, this was your guy…you voted for him! When you lose your job, don’t blame me, blame your new “governing from the middle” President, okay?

But, hey Obama believes in state’s rights, that is why he did this.

Hey…how about the newly imposed socialism package known a stimulus? Not to worry people, Obama will “create” a job for you, dictate your health care and take away those nasty SUV's you should not be driving anyway. Too bad you will have to sacrifice your freedoms and your future for that job, but hey... Obama scoffed when he was called a socialist, so he must not be one.

How about nominating a tax cheat to lead the IRS and then trying to snowball people into thinking it is no big deal? The person picked to run the IRS is also supposed to lead us out of our economic crisis. How is he going to do that? Teach us all how to avoid paying your taxes?

Yep- leading from the middle!!!! That is our new president!

By the way folks, America just elected the most liberal President in American history. As he tells it, he was raised by a very liberal mother, launched his career in the home of unapologetic domestic terrorist, was a liberal state senator in one of the most politically thuggish environments in the US and was the most liberal Senator in the US Senate.

Well, conservative elitists...you told us just to give him a chance...now what? You helped him get elected.

Obama adivisers not out of the woods yet

I hate to say it, but I agree with the crazy man occupying the big house in Illinois. Blago will not be able to put on a defense. Since Blago cannot call any witnesses involved with the selling of the Obama senate seat, he cannot really put on a defense.

Blago released a bunch of paperwork on Friday showing that indeed Rahm Emanuel and Valerie Jarrett are indeed still part of the Fitzgerald investigation.

So it should be interesting where this trial leads.

The trial begins today.

Now I am also fully convinced that Blago was not only trying to seel the senate seat, but he has been involved in many more schemes in Illinois.

However, everyone deserves a fair trial, and I am not sure the Illinois state senate cares about that. It is like the senators are trying to distance themselves and are not worried about fairness.

No laughing

Seriously, no laughing.

Former French President Chirac hospitalized after mauling by his clinically depressed poodle

What would you laugh at first, anyway?

The fact that a 200 lbs grown man cannot fend off a 8 pound poodle?

Or is it that the "clinically depressed" poodle?

PS. The poodle is medicated. I did not realize that "puppy Prozac" existed.

PSS. Hey I can tell you are laughing, stop that!

No rescue for America

Funny how this story is released into the public domain the day Obama is sworn into office.
Washington Post-

WASHINGTON -- It will take years before an infrastructure spending program
proposed by President-elect Barack Obama will boost the economy, according to
congressional economists.

The findings, released to lawmakers Sunday, call into question the effectiveness of congressional Democrats' efforts to pump up the economy through old-fashioned public works projects like roads, bridges and repairs of public housing.

Less than half of the $30 billion in highway construction funds detailed by House Democrats would be released into the economy over the next four years, concludes the analysis by the Congressional Budget Office. Less than $4 billion in highway construction money would reach the economy by September 2010.

The entire bailout of the American economy, priced at $825 billion called an "economic stimulus" is no stimulus at all.

Hat Tip- Charlie Sykes

Details from Powerline:

A Dozen Fun Facts About the House Democrats' Massive Spending Bill

1. The House Democrats' bill will cost each and every household $6,700 additional
debt, paid for by our children and grandchildren.

2. The total cost of this one piece of legislation is almost as much as the annual discretionary budget for the entire federal government.

3. President-elect Obama has said that his proposed stimulus legislation will create or save three million jobs. This means that this legislation will spend about $275,000 per job. The average household income in the U.S. is $50,000 a year.

4. The House Democrats' bill provides enough spending - $825 billion - to give every man, woman, and child in America $2,700.

5. $825 billion is enough to give every person living in poverty in the U.S. $22,000.

6. $825 billion is enough to give every person in Ohio $72,000.

7. Although the House Democrats' proposal has been billed as a transportation and infrastructure investment package, in actuality only $30 billion of the bill - or three percent - is for road and highway spending. A recent study from the Congressional Budget Office said that only 25 percent of infrastructure dollars can be spent in the first year, making the one year total less than $7 billion for infrastructure.

8. Much of the funding within the House Democrats' proposal will go to programs that already have large, unexpended balances. For example, the bill provides $1 billion for Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), which already have $16 billion on hand. And, this year, Congress has plans to rescind $9 billion in highway funding that the states have not yet used.

9. In 1993, the unemployment rate was virtually the same as the rate today (around seven percent). Yet, then-President Clinton's proposed stimulus legislation ONLY contained $16 billion in spending.

10. Here are just a few of the programs and projects that have been included in the
House Democrats' proposal:

· $650 million for digital
TV coupons.
· $6 billion for colleges/universities - many which have billion
dollar endowments.
· $166 billion in direct aid to states - many of which
have failed to budget wisely.
· $50 million in funding for the National
Endowment of the Arts.
· $44 million for repairs to U.S. Department of
Agriculture headquarters.
· $200 million for the National Mall, including
grass planting.· $400 million for "National Treasures."

11. Almost one-third of the so called tax relief in the House Democrats'
bill is spending in disguise, meaning that true tax relief makes up only 24
percent of the total package - not the 40 percent that President-elect Obama had
requested.

12. $825 billion is just the beginning - many Capitol Hill Democrats want
to spend even more taxpayer dollars on their "stimulus" plan.

TARP on steroids

On the day Obama was inagurated, it did not take long to see the rumblings of more bailouts headed our way.

No- I am not talking about the second $350 billion from TARP that was approved last week for Barack Obama.

No- I am also not talking $850 billion Obama bailout of local and state governments( Obama calls it a stimulus package)

What I am talking about is another bailout of the markets:

“Congress isn’t going to step up and say, ‘Hey, can we give away another
$700 billion?’” said an aide to a second Democratic House member. “But there’s a
growing sense among people who are really watching this closely, I think, that
it is entirely possible, six months from now, maybe even less, the
administration is going to come back and say, ‘We need more; we need ... more of
the same.’”

Politico

The first $700 billion is not enough. The second $850 billion will not be enough. Now we are on to the next version of TARP, probably another $700 billion.

It's TARP on steroids.

Then after reading this sneaky little comment in Bloomberg yesterday when they were talking about the largest market drop in American history as a new president was being sworn in, I am more convinced than ever, that we will be bailing out the markets once again in a few months:

“All the banks are going to have to recapitalize,” said Greg Woodard, portfolio
strategist at Manning & Napier Advisors Inc., which manages $16 billion in
Fairport, New York. “That’s not done. That’s in front of them, and we don’t want
to try to get in front of that trade.”

Yep, when they start talking about recapitalizing- I begin wondering how many billion(or is it trillion) dollars we will need.

My pledge...

I did the best I could and I held out as long as I could. It was not until i go home tonight that in a day of ridiculous headlines, I found one headline that made me laugh out loud.

Now- I have held my tongue all day. Even at work, where dozens of liberals goofs continued the taunts about GW Bush, I still held my tongue.

I know what a moment in history this is. America and Barack Obama broke the color barrier. A barrier created by our forefathers in a nation that claimed freedom for all Americans even as they held certain portions of the population with a different skin color and a different gender under their thumbs. Eventually, America will break the gender barrier also. I firmly believe that it will be conservatives that break that barrier.

Anyway, this was a monumental day.

Even as monumental as it was, some of the headlines I have been reading all day got me to wondering what in heaven's name must be in the koolaid the media and others must be drinking.

Check out these headlines:

Obama raises hand, lifts a nation
CNN
Oh good grief. And the waters will rise and the land will heal!

Change comes to Washington
CNN
Yeah- we already know this is not true. Already some of Obama's buddies are under indictment or about to be indicted. The Clinton retreads are all back in Washington. What change?

An unbroken sea of humanity witnesses Obama taking oath
The Miami Herald

Another oh good grief. Even Obama recognizes that there are a few things broken. To Obama's credit he sees this and is talking a good game about bringing people together. Honestly, I believe Obama is sincere. I think Obama's biggest problems will be Reid and Pelosi. I don't think it will take long before they start slapping their own divisive politics all over the Obama administration.

Masses share in Obama's reward
Boston Globe

Reward? Seriously? AFter spending millions upon millions to win the presidency, and we find out that it will be the masses that spends trillions to bail out everyone under the sun- where is the "reward" for the masses?

The following two headlines together got me to giggling. After the stock market tanked, the biggest tank in American history on the day a new president was sworn in, these two headlines came out:

Markets down despite Obama
Real Clear Markets

The Obama era dawns on Wall Street
MarketWatch
These two articles are headed in separate directions.

Still the one headline that had me busting a gut laughing was written by Ashton Kutcher. Yes, the "Punked" goofball, Ashton.

I pledge to serve President Obama
Ashton Kutcher, Huffington Post

I guess we have become a monarchy now! That is going to over well with the American people "I pledge allegiance to Barack Obama..."! What a goofball!

Even as I caught site of this headline, I saw another article titled:

I pledge to ridicule celebrities
Andrew Breitbart

Finally, someone with some perspective. The next few years are going to be hard, for everyone. Not just conservatives, not just liberals, but all Americans. We may end up with double digit unemployment and double digit inflation. Still these celebrities will go on making millions off the backs of hardworking Americans.

Breitbart has the true perspective on the Hollywood elitist liberals:

This video illustrates that the current celebrity class are not citizens but serfs. They need a leader to put their minds in the right place to do the right thing. They are not heroic individualists seeking to extend America’s promise but conformists who chose to sit out and complain during the tough years in order to ensure their guy got in the next go-around.

The celebrity decadence during the “oppressive” Bush years was world class. The clubs raged. The boutique hotels rocked. The private jet industry at Van Nuys airport flourished. The party never stopped. And only a precious few (Thank you, dearly!!!) stepped up to support the American troops who have been valiantly fighting for Hollywood’s right to do lines off of each others’ buttocks at $10 million Hollywood Hills mansions.

They never spoke up against the movies that demonized our military.

They never made movies to counter the libel.

They took the easy route. And blamed Bush for everything.

So while Hollywood elitist liberals goes back to doing coke, the rest of us, including Barack Obama, have some serious issues to face.

My pledge is similar to and inspired by Andrew Breitbart:

I pledge to ridicule and taunt the Hollywood liberals elitists and the fawning mainstream media until they get a grip on reality. We are a capitalist nation that believes is freedom for all! We don't believe in socialism, marxism or spending our lives working for the government. We believe in family, friends and our right to carry a gun to protect ourselves. We don't believe in a handout or a bailout. Most importantly we do believe in God, country and freedom.

I believe and I could be wrong, that under this nation's current leadership, that our core values of God, country and freedom will take a backseat to a government controlled populace. Obama's intentions are good, but there is such a thing as helping people too much. It is a fine line.

The first official Obamablunder

From Pres. Obama's speech:

Forty-four Americans have now taken the presidential oath.

For all you public school kids there have been 43 Americans who have taken the presidential oath. Grover Cleveland was President 22 and 24.

Kennedy collapses at Inauguration luncheon

Sens. Robert C. Byrd, D-W.Va., and Edward M. Kennedy, D-Mass., were stricken Tuesday at an inauguration luncheon for President Barack Obama. A Capitol police officer stood up at the luncheon and said medical attention was needed.

Kennedy collapsed and was wheeled out on a stretcher from the Capitol luncheon following the inauguration of the 44th president, NBC's Mike Viquiera said. Kennedy reportedly suffered convulsions.

Gary Becker resigned as mayor of Racine.

Yes, he is a Democrat.

Congratulations

Congratulations to Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

Even though I voted and worked for the other side, I do recognize what a historic moment this is.

Sarah and Sexism

I noticed on the Conservatives for Palin website a note stating that Governor Sarah Palin would be on Fox News today with Glenn Beck. Governor Palin is Glenn Beck’s first guest on his new show.

It got me to thinking about the question that I really wanted to ask when I was at the Waukesha town hall meeting with Senator McCain and Governor Palin. I had a very specific question for Governor Palin but I never got a chance to ask the question..

I will get to my question that I sent in momentarily. In fact, since I have a day job and will not be able to watch the Glenn Beck show, someone watch for me and let me know if I get lucky and the governor is asked the question that I pose here today.

There is a giant pink elephant, dressed in a Hillary pantsuit, wearing Sarah stilettos and covered in lipstick that we all managed to completely ignore during this election cycle.

The giant pink elephant’s name is Sexism. For the purpose of this article I am generally defining sexism as “a belief or attitude that one gender or sex is inferior to or less valuable than the other”.

Now we can go on denying that sexism exists in our country, or we can finally fess up to it and deal it. The good news is on the Martin Luther King Jr. Day is that we have finally faced up to one of this nation’s most closely held vile habits in racism and tomorrow the first African American president will be sworn into office.

As far as sexism is concerned, let’s look at some evidence before everyone immediately launches into denial.

Hillary and her supporters spent months complaining about sexism and the double standard created between her and Obama. When Hillary would question Obama on just about anything, Obama would whine about “divisive politics” and “politics as usual” and the media would launch into Clinton with such fervor for questioning Obama.

Then we move on to August. The day after Obama’s coronation complete with the Greek columns and fainting supporters, John McCain took the winds out of the Obama sails by selecting Governor Sarah Palin.

That is when the real sexism started. Now, a bunch of folks will get defensive and claim what they did was not sexism…Governor Palin should be expected to answer questions. Yada, yada, yada.

Stop a think for a moment the types of stories that were written about Sarah and what type of questions were asked of her. Within 24 hours of her being named to the ticket, Sarah Palin’s motherhood was being questioned. Was she really Trig Palin’s mother? 24 hours after this, her daughter’s pregnancy was revealed. Was she a good mother? Shouldn’t she be home teaching her kids some values? And on and on…

From there things quickly deteriorated. The way she hugged John McCain became an issue. Governor Palin’s wardrobe, her hairstyle, her glasses, her shoes, her children, her intelligence and what newspapers she may or may not read all became issues.

She was called Caribou Barbie, Redneck Barbie, a bimbo and names that my Christian values will not allow me to state here. Even Obama got his digs in with the lipstick and the pig comment.

The blatant sexism against Governor Palin could not have been more evident.

Now, if you stopped and thought about it…what man running for elected office has ever had to deal with these types of questions? Certainly not Barack Obama. How much did his campaign pay for his clothes, his wife’s clothes and his children’s clothes? These types of questions were off limits, as well they should have been.

To make matters so much worse, this sexism was generated and propagandized by the media. They could not help themselves. They had to keep the pressure up, before and after the election.

So obviously, the nasty side of sexism chose 2008 to once again rear its ugly head.

To be completely fair, it isn’t just the men that have issues with sexism. Probably two of the worst cases of sexism were Tina Fey’s degradation of Governor Palin and Katie Couric’s obnoxious gotcha questions. Two women, who instead of celebrating the advancement of a woman to a national ticket, chose degradation over a celebration.

Certainly neither of these women should have voted for the McCain/Palin ticket because a woman was on the ticket, but was it really necessary for their support for Barack Obama to turn into hatred and sexism against Sarah Palin?

It was not only liberals that played the sexism game, there are some conservatives that pushed the “she is stupid” propaganda. For example, Kathleen Parker, a conservative writer no one had ever heard of until she started slamming Sarah Palin, felt the need to further the sexism crime against the governor. Shortly before the election, Parker finally admitted that her husband had the hots for Governor Palin and felt that she was too attractive. Basically the green-eyed monster reared its ugly head and came out in Parker’s writings.

So where do we go from here? How do we deal with the sexism that became clearly evident during this election? The many advancements made over the years for woman were destroyed in a few short months on the campaign trail and in the media. How do we get that back?

This is for certain, the so called modern day feminists who were part of pushing this propaganda of sexism against the governor, are of little use in fixing the sexism problem we are currently having. Who knew that these are the same women who went from burning their bras in the streets of San Francisco and now they are terrified of a tube of lipstick.

There was a time that Susan B. Anthony carried the charge of equal rights and suffrage and somehow Gloria Steinem is now the face of modern feminism. Instead of being about equal rights for all Americans, apparently the liberal women deserve to be treated with respect and conservative woman are not worth fighting for. Feminism became about politics instead of people.

I think the way forward has a lot to do with Governor Sarah Palin. Over and over again I listen to political pundits say that she should just take the sexist remarks. If she complains then she is just whining.

I am sorry, I disagree with this. If she tolerates this type of treatment then woman after woman coming up behind her with political aspirations of their own like myself will be fighting the same battle. I know that I am just a lowly alderwoman fighting to give a voice to the people of Kenosha Wisconsin, but that is where she started also. She became the voice of Wasilla and has moved her way up to the woman she is today.

Now I am not looking for raving lunatic feminists like we see on the liberal side of the aisle, but we need a reasoned approach to regaining the dignity and respect that all woman of every race and religion deserve.

This battle is not just for conservative woman, but we need the conservative men to help us. This is very much a team battle we are fighting. We need to join together and not only fight the racism that exists in this country, but fight the sexism also. We can all clearly see now that sexism is alive and surviving in this country and the media are the most guilty party of all in the propagandizing this issue.

That is the question that I posed to Governor Palin- Sexism is alive- Where do we go from here?

Stop ACORN

Many people are concerned about ACORN's role in election fraud, the banking collapse and campaigns against businesses' rights and freedoms. ACORN activities have delivered approximately $15 billion in direct monetary benefits to their membership and constituency over the past 10 years. With the bailout Obama is proposing, we know that he will pay back his ACORN activists that helped him get elected. The real question is: How Much? How many of the tax dollars that hard-working people have paid into the federal government will go to paying off ACORN? We know it won't come in direct payment, but in "backdoor deals". Other organizations will receive this money, and they, in turn, will funnel it to ACORN. Much like the Obama campaign giving over $800,000 to an association with, conveniently, close ties to ACORN.

We need have an organization the represents the workingman. An organization that watches out for the taxpayer and watches how government is spending workers' money. This organization could work to protect the rights of businesses, ensuring a strong economy and good jobs. It would need to educate workers on important issues about the spending of their tax dollars. This organization would also organize voter registration and voting drives to ensure the workingman has a voice in the process of electing the officials in charge of spending their money. This organization could be known as:

Mission Statement

Community Awareness Seeking to Help Every Workingman (CASHEW) aims to organize a majority consituency of working people across the United States. The members of CASHEW take on issues of relevance to their communities, whether those issues are quality education, lower taxes or more efficient public services and use of tax dollars. CASHEW believes that working people are the best advocates for their communities, and so CASHEW's working members act as leaders, spokespeople, and decision-makers within the organization.

Stimulus or bailout? Some people get it

Some people are starting to understand what is taking place with this sham of a stimulus package.

A woman and her husband walked up to me yesterday as a I sat in the Gateway Cafe and said "Hi, you are my alderman". I was sitting alone having picked up my weekly packet of mountains of paperwork for this week's city council meeting. I had the paperwork spread out all over the table.

I asked how everything was going for them and they had a couple of minor issues. The husband spoke of leaves jammed in his snowblower because of a new neighbor, but he seemed to have a handle on the situation.

The subject the woman wanted to talk about most was the bailout.

I was a little hesitant and asked "which bailout?" The "$800 billion bailout". "Obama's bailout." "You know that is a bailout too" she said.

Yes, ma'am I know that is a bailout too.

It does my heart good when I meet a total stranger and you see that folks are starting to understand exactly what this so called "stimulus package" entails.

There is a reason why Obama and the Democrats continue to call this a stimulus package, it is because the people will not support a bailout.

I immediately went from this thrill to a moment that was not so thrilling. I packed up my stuff at the restaurant and headed for home stopping at the gas station at the corner. I normally frequent this station on a daily basis.

I know a lot of the employees pretty well and they know I am an alderman. They ask a lot of political questions.

Directly after the restuarant incident, one of employees at the gas station asked me when he was going to get his check. "What check?", I asked. "The one from the stimulus", he said.

I felt bad telling him he was not going to get a check. He thought I was insane, all he has heard from the media and Obama was this stimulus stuff.

I told him that this "stimulus package" just rolled out by Obama and the Democrats has no stimulus check included, at least not yet.

A year ago, all the talk was about George Bush sending out another round of stimulus checks. Most Americans ended up getting a check of $600.

This incident made me wonder how many people hear the word stimulus and are thinking exactly what the young man at the gas station was thinking.

How many folks are supporting this bailout because they think Obama is going to send them a check and still create a high paying job for them?

An amazing video- Miracle on the Hudson

I have just got to comment on that plane crash in the Hudson river.

A miracle?

Yes, it was. The good Lord was looking out for those people that day.

Still, so much had to go right in order for everyone to survive.

The pilot and his crew- amazing piece of flying and landing. Just one heartbeat of a moment of panic, everyone dies. But he did not panic. Just one slight tip of the wing into the water before the belly hits the water, everyone dies.

The ferry boat pilot. To have the wherewith all, to see the plane go down and immediately point his boat towards the danger. The ferry boat driver and his crew was plucking people out of the water and off the wing tips within three minutes of the plane hitting the water. Lives were saved by this ferry boat pilot and his crew.

The passengers. What an incredible team effort by this group of complete strangers. There is a video that catching a portion of the crash that was just released. Within seconds of the plane hitting the water, several passengers had the clear thinking necessary to have people out on the wing tips within seconds of the plane coming to rest.

I cannot download the video to this page. But you can watch it on Gateway Pundit.
Here are the details:

2:00 minutes into the video- you see the plane sliding across the water on the left side of the screen.

2:36 Someone gets to the Coast Guard cameras and aims the camera towards the plane. In that 36 seconds, you will see passengers were already out of the plane on on the wing tips. That means those passengers were on there feet, got the exits open and were piling out within seconds. They really kept there wits about them!!!

3:46 mark- you will see that the person manning the camera noticed the ferry boat chugging towards the plane. That is only 106 seconds from the moment the plane hit the water and the ferry driver was already going full stream ahead trying to get to the passengers. That means that the ferry boat driver had to have turned his boat immediately towards the plane. If you continue to watch, you will notice that that ferry is really moving trying to get there. As they got close you can see they slowed down. Interviews later stated that the ferry boat pilot was worried about slowing down enough not to hit the wing tips and slam into the plane sending everyone into the frigid waters. What smart thinking!!!

6:00 mark- The ferry boat and it's crew were already pulling people out of the water and off the tips of the wings. 180 seconds after the belly of the plane hit the water they were already saving lives.

6:44 mark- another boat appears and heads for the opposite side of the plane to start getting people off. Another very smart move. You see that they had to approach slowly and get into position. It took them less than 60 seconds and they too were pulling people out of the water and off the wing tips.

7:52 mark- a third boat arrives- also appears to be the Coast Guard. To get a boat manned, started and moving in such a short period of time is just amazing.

The pilot and his crew did a great job, but so did the passengers. They actually saved their own lives and the lives of there fellow passengers with their quick think and calmness in a crisis.

Kreuser forgets County Exec is non partisan

Here's a release from the RPW. I could not have said it better:

Kreuser forgets County Exec is non partisan

MADISON– Kenosha County Executive Jim Kreuser may have officially left partisan politics but the Democrat has brought partisanship back to Kenosha County local government.

“Kenosha County deserves a leader in tough economic times, not a partisan hack who divides communities to score political points,” said Mark Jefferson, Executive Director of the Republican Party of Wisconsin. “Jim Kreuser should stop worrying about pleasing his party bosses and do his job.”

This week, Kreuser attacked Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker for his reluctance to join the government spending spree for fear of committing his county to further taxpayer funded obligations and larger budget deficits down the road. Upon taking office, Walker inherited a budget mess created by the pension scandal.

“Long time politician Jim Kreuser has never had a problem spending other people’s money,” Jefferson said. “Kreuser could learn a few things about responsible leadership from Scott Walker.”

So when the economy in Kenosha county starts taking a dive, remember a DEMOCRAT is leading the helm. He is not non partisan, he's as partisan as it gets.

Edited 1/19/09 to add:

Even the 1/18/09 Kenosha News agrees with the RPW and myself (who would have thunk it?):

Walker Rally

I attended the Conservative Young Professionals "Happy Hour" last night, even though I am neither young or professional. BUT I did want to show my support for Scott Walker. His views of what needs to happen in this state and country to fix the problem with the economy, taxes, budget deficits, etc. is refreshing. It's great to know there's someone out there who believes in Reagan's principles that actually work. Not throwing money around in the name of "economic stimulus" that will not solve our problems.

Someone asked what's a good bumper sticker slogan for the people that support Scott Walker's conservative ideas. I thought of a few:

Liberals like to throw around the "F word" - FREE. Their most popular one right now is Free Healthcare. Guess what? It's NOT free, your taxes are paying for it!

I think Scott Walker epitomizes this one, and he's getting beat up by union lemmings and the like for not compromising.

What would Reagan do?
Raise taxes? NO.
Increase spending? NO.
Propose a $800 billion bailout package that won't work? NO.
What Reagan did worked. Why don't liberals want to admit that? Because if they cut taxes and give you more of your money, they'd lessen their control over you and decrease their power.

I think this one sums up Scott Walker's beliefs. You can't compromise your principles for anything, even possible millions from the government. I know Kathy learned her lesson on this one with the auto bailout.

Wait a minute, Mr. Geithner

I think maybe now is a good time to reevaluate this selection by President elect Obama selection to head the worst financial crisis in years.

Since we all know that the tax laws can be very complicated, perhaps this will simplify it.

On your paycheck every week, you pay income taxes, medicare taxes and social security taxes. Your employer, also pays income tax, medicare tax and social security tax on your employment. We all know this.

Those folks that are self employed cover both portions of taxes. You pay as an employer and employee.

International companies, like the one Mr. Geithner worked for, IMF, expected Mr. Geithner to pay both the employer part of the taxes and the employee part of the taxes in full to the IRS.

IMF then cuts a big ol' fat check to the you to cover for what normally would be the employer part of taxes. You are reimbursed for the companies part of the tax that you paid to the IRS.

When doing his taxes from 2001 to 2004, the "mistake" that Mr. Geithner made was that he only paid the employee part of the taxes, but never paid the employer's part of the tax.

Mr. Geithner was given a big ol' fat check for paying the employer part of the taxes to the IRS, only Mr. Geithner never paid the employer part of the tax. Instead, Mr. Geithner pocketed the money.

This is no longer just a simple case of overlooking a problem. On numerous occasions, IDF reminded their employees how the process worked.

Most of the mainstream media are ignoring the full and complete story right now. However, there is enough of a problem that the Senate will not move forward with confirmation hearings until after Obama's inauguration. Certainly would not want to taint the new president before he is inaugrated.

What I do not understand is how so many people are making excuses. America's financial future will be put in Mr. Geithner's hands and they guy appears to have more that a simple mistake for four years straight.

Wouldn't you ask questions if a big check showed up in the mail for your company?

Byron York and Michelle Malkin are on this. Figures that only conservatives are chasing this right now. The Wall Street Journal seems to be on it but are not really explaining it in simple terms that everyone can understand.
In a conversation today with sources on Capitol Hill who are familiar with the situation, I asked, “Was Geithner made whole for tax payments that he didn’t make?”“Yes,” one source answered. “He was getting the money. He was being paid a tax allowance to pay him for tax payments that he should have made but had not.”

For someone with the brains and the experience in our Treasury department to not know that he was breaking the law, do we really want this guy in charge of our IRS?

I know we all want an instant fix to our current economic problem, but is this acceptable to most normal Americans?

Can you hear the Obama bus backing into place to claim its next victim? Beep-beep-beep

Global Warming

It's -13 degrees outside right now without windchill. I think this video is fitting.

New Cabbage Patch

Here is the new Cabbage patch doll for Illinois residents.

Now you too can buy the governor.

Rep. Paul Ryan Nails It! ... AGAIN!

I think I might look into this SCHIP thing. My household of 4 makes less than $80,000 a year. If I stop my health insurance through the business my husband and I own, that would save us over $3000 per year (for crappy insurance.) That money would go directly into my pocket - ca-ching!

Heck! I'll tell all the employees to get on SCHIP to save my business thousands more -- more money in my pocket.

Taxpayers = Suckers

If your banker did not pay his taxes, how confident would you be in him?

If your banker did not pay his taxes until the IRS called him on it, how confident would you be in giving him control of your life savings?

The entire nation's finances are about to be placed into the hands of a person that "oopsie-forgot to pay his taxes".

The Obama team is telling us that it is no big deal, just a minor mistake that has been corrected.

Timothy F. Geithner, the man tapped to lead the nation out of the greatest
economic crisis in decades -- and who would oversee the Internal Revenue Service -- trekked to Capitol Hill yesterday to explain to senators how he made almost
$43,000 worth of mistakes on his own tax returns.

Hey- it was an innocent $43,000 tax mistake. Why would you worry about him taking over the IRS? Everbody is just making a big deal over nothing, right?

Baaaahhhh! Baaaahhh!

The bleeting sheep called the media stand willing and waiting for slaughter at Obama's feet.

Carol Marin of the Chicago Sun Times points out that the media are not even trying any more with Obama. The media is so in love with him, they believe ever single word he says:

The press corps, most of us, don't even bother raising our hands any more to ask
questions because Obama always has before him a list of correspondents who've
been advised they will be called upon that day.

Pre picked reporters and pre picked questions- you will only know exactly what Obama wants you to know. Still don't think we are headed for socialism???? Think again. If the media will not even try to find the truth- it is over, folks

Another day, another Democrat arrested

Last week, the democrat mayor of Baltimore was indicted.

Today, the Democrat mayor of Racine was arrested. I know the mayor of Racine is a non-partisan position, but he is a Democrat.

GARY BECKER, this city's mayor, remembers handing out fliers at local factory gates as a 10-year-old campaigner in Hubert H. Humphrey's ill-fated presidential bid in 1968. Mr. Becker, 48, is still a Democrat, but the factories and the traditional blue-collar jobs that filled the streets of his childhood are mostly gone, replaced by condominiums, restaurants and shops along Lake Michigan as well as an increasing number of service-sector jobs.

The mayor of Racine just won re-election in 2007. His term is not set to expire until 2011.

Journal Times

Racine Mayor Gary Becker was arrested Tuesday in a shopping mall outside the City of Milwaukee, said Ben Hughes, city administrator.

Becker was arrested on multiple felony counts, including solicitation of a minor, Hughes said.

Upon the arrest he was transported to the Kenosha County Jail, where he is being held on a $165,000 cash bond. The arrest was made by officials from the Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigations.

The Racine Police Chief Kurt Wahlen called City Council President David Maack at about 12:20 a.m. this morning, Maack said. Wahlen indicated there was an ongoing investigation and Becker had been arrested for charges involving child pornography.

Oh good grief. What is it with these guys?

The stench of Illinois Democrat machine follows Obama to Washington

Wow- this must be such a proud moment for all you Democrats out there. Your next President and the top Democrat in the country caved to a impeached democrat governor.

CNN

Earlier in the day, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Illinois senior senator and Assistant Majority Leader Dick Durbin said the Senate would accept Burris' credentials.

Nice of Obama to drag the slimy Illinois politicians to Washington with him. Even if Obama does not want them there, they are coming anyway.

What did you expect President elect Obama? Apparently the stench of the Illinois Democratic machine is following him to Washington after all.

The Illinois Democratic machine helped get Obama elected and now the stench will be around for two years for everyone to smell. We still have the Blago impeachment trial and the Blago indictments and then the Blago trial. This stench will be front page news for a while.

In the meantime, the people of Illinois have been robbed of a person that will openly and honestly represent them. Clearly the people of Illinois are secondary to the Democratic machine.

Got to get those Democrats elected at all costs.

Republican 2012 Presidential contenders with their hands out

We have heard a lot about the next set of Republican Presidential contenders in 2012. Mostly governors are getting the nod and the support right now.

Just out of curiosity, I thought I would check into how these governors were handling their wish lists from Obama stimulus (bailout) program.

Some are doing okay, others I was quite surprised about:

Sarah Palin- Governor of Alaska- Governor Palin is getting her head ripped off by the new US state senator Mark Begich because she is not asking for anything more than the typical road projects already supported by the federal government. These are projects already requested and approved by the federal government.

Palin says requesting what she calls non-formula projects, like those Begich suggests, could lead to, "....unhealthy practices and results that often occur in the Congressional earmarking process."

It is a statement that some say sounds similar to those Palin used on the Vice-Presidential campaign trail.

The letter ends with Palin telling the congressional delegation, "...beyond my purview as Governor, I also urge you to consider how the economic stimulus package will affect the national debt and the future economic health of the country."

Palin is standing her ground and not requesting anything more than she would any other year. There will be several city mayors and such that will work around her and try to get more money.

Mark Sanford- Governor of South Carolina- just like Governor Palin, Governor Sanford is not asking for anything additional. Just the typical projects that are already funded by the federal government for project already approved. Of course, the mayors in his state are already trying to work around there governor just like they are in Alaska by making their own requests.

Gov. Mark Sanford blasted such plans as wasteful and told CNN anchor Wolf
Blitzer on Sunday that President-elect Barack Obama's proposed stimulus package
is "a horrible mistake" with "dire consequences for the next generation."

Palin and Sanford are on the same page and both are warning of the future consequences of doing this.

This is where things get a little sticky.

I am rather disappointed in this next governor. We have been hearing for months how wonderfully conservative Bobby Jindal is, but make no doubt about it, Jindal is going after as much money as he can get from Obama.

Bobby Jindal- Governor of Louisiana- Even though billions upon billions of dollars have already been poured into Louisiana- Jindal appears to be ready to ask for billions more:

Jindal said the Obama administration asked states to provide lists of
transportation and infrastructure projects that were "shovel ready" and could begin within 90 to 180 days, projects that could create jobs and stimulate state economies.

Among the projects Jindal said Louisiana could begin quickly if provided federal aid were continued expansions of Interstates 10 and 12 in the Baton Rouge area, I-49 north from Shreveport to Arkansas and road paving projects around the state.

The governor and U.S. Sen. David Vitter, R-Metairie, said they have asked the Obama administration to include dollars for coastal restoration and flood protection projects in the stimulus proposal.
Jindal said the stimulus bill likely won't include money tied to specific projects, but rather distributed through a funding formula that would allocate dollar amounts to states.
Though Vitter said he would work to get Louisiana priorities included in the stimulus plans, he added, "I don't know how I'll vote on that final bill."

You guys make your own final analysis on this one. After Jindal's massive government sponsored health care he rolled out in November, that would cost taxpayers all over the US to pay for his expanded medicare program, I already have a chip on my shoulder when it comes to Jindal.

I am also disappointed in this next governor.

Jon Huntsman- Governor of Utah- Governor Huntsman is not even pretending to be a fiscal conservative. He is requesting at least $14.5 billion. Our Democrat governor here in Wisconsin is only going after $20 billion and we are a bigger state with more people!

The break the company is looking for could be the Obama administration’s
economic-stimulus package. Utah’s list of infrastructure projects seeks nearly
$14.5 billion in federal funding, with an eye towards creating more than 120,000 jobs in the state. Of all the requested funding, however, dollars earmarked for energy-infrastructure projects (including CNG fueling sites) make up only
roughly $27 million of the more than $14 billion requested.

And this guy calls himself a conservative???? Sure looks like a Governor Arnold conservative to me.

There you have it.

I have heard each one of these names bounded about for a possible run for president in 2012 or 2016.

Edited to add: One of the commenters spoke about Rick Perry- governor of Texas. I could have added Perry to the list. He too is another governor warning against the state bailout.

As you are aware, the governors met with Obama about a month ago where all of this was discussed.

Turns out, three governors were leading the charge against the state bailout.

Guess which three governors?

You got it. Governor Sarah Palin, Governor Mark Sanford and Governor Rick Perry.

I found this little ditty:

He said Republican Govs. Rick Perry of Texas, Mark Sanford of South Carolina and Sarah Palin of Alaska, led a spirited debate about the pitfalls of adding to the $10.7-trillion federal debt. They warned that the U.S. economy could collapse.

Apparently we only have three governors willing to act like fiscal conservatives.

Humbled and amazed, thanks for the links everyone:

The world will end in 2012

I just thought I would pass along this information. Edgar, the roach coach guy that comes to our company, told me the world will end in 2012. Apparently he was was watching the History Channel and that is what they said.

So, I guess we can all stop paying our bills in 2010. I figure by the time the credit companies catch up with us, it will be 2012 and the world will end anyway.

New administration, same ol' Washington political pay offs

How many times did you hear Obama utter these words "Change does not come from Washington, Change comes to Washington"? In fact the first time Obama uttered those words were during his convention speech.

Is rewarding your big money donors with cushy ambassadorships sound like change is coming to Washington?

Jan. 10 (Bloomberg) -- President-elect Barack Obama will uphold at least one of Washington’s old ways: the appointment of campaign donors to plum ambassadorships.

“There probably will be some” political appointees serving abroad, Obama said at a news conference yesterday. “It would be disingenuous for me to suggest that there are not going to be some excellent public servants but who haven’t come through the ranks of the civil service.”

Obama, who campaigned as a candidate of change and vowed to limit the influence of money in politics, has said he will revamp U.S. foreign policy. All ambassadors serve at the pleasure of the president and are required to submit their resignations by Inauguration Day, Jan. 20, giving Obama about 170 posts to fill.

“He is going to be like every other president and is going to make political appointees of those people who helped moved his campaign forward,” said Steve Clemons an analyst at the Washington-based New America Foundation. Nominating a big donor to be ambassador to a tranquil Western European country, or a sunny Caribbean island is “a way to pay off his biggest supporters.”

After watching the legions of Washington insiders(mostly Clinton's people) that Obama has appointed, the promise of spending money we do not have, the promised deficit increases, the dishonest parsing of words, the political payoffs...

To you liberals, who worked you tails off to bring Obama's change TO Washington, where is the change?

This is the same ole Washington. Nothing appears to be changing in Washington with the exception of the nameplates in the Oval Office and around DC's upper echelon of power brokers.

I'm an Embarrassment to Barack!

I'm an embarrassment to Barack!

I only scored 13 on the Obama Test

Obama using focus groups to push stimulus plan

Oh great, that is all we need. Another president in the mold of Bill Clinton who cannot make a decision without checking polling data first.

I have to say that I am not surprised. Somehow Obama has got to snooker America into believing in his economic policies.

I would even be willing to bet that is the reason Obama's team is calling Obama's economic plan a "stimulus" instead of a "bail-out". Yes, just like Bush's plan, Obama's plan is a bail-out of state governments, unions, road builders and irresponsible corporations.

President-elect Barack Obama’s top political aides are adapting their campaign tactics to selling policy, using data from polls and focus groups to shape the debate over a stimulus plan that may cost at least $775 billion.

David Axelrod, Obama’s chief political adviser, along with campaign media adviser Jim Margolis, are encouraging lawmakers to use the word “recovery” instead of recession and “investment” instead of “infrastructure.” Those recommendations came from focus-group research indicating that such framing would make the package more appealing to voters.

It was politically motivated!

I loved this headline on CNN.

"Governor says impeachment vote is politically motivated"

I did not read the article, but I loved the headline.

The impeachment vote was politically motivated. All those Democrats sitting in the House that are politically connected with Blago are trying to cover their backsides. Of course they are pretending they care about fighting corruption and all....even as they all are part of the same politically corrupt machine in Illinois. They are trying to distance themselves from Blago so they do not go down with him.

Burris is in

Burris is in

Today, the Illinois courts approved the validity of the Governor Blago's appointment of Roland Burris to the US Senate.

The court's opinion states that "no further action is required by the Secretary of State or any other official to make the Governor's appointment of Roland Burris to the United States Senate valid under Illinois law."

The idea that Harry Reid or Barack Obama would attempt to even buck this shows that you cannot just reintepret rules based on your own personal opinions.

Blago impeached

I am sure that this comes as no shock to anyone.

Blago is impeached.

Final vote in the House 114-1.

1?

The article does not identify the name of the member voting against impeachment.

Palin finally defends herself

Palin is taking few potshots at the completely Obama biased media.

It is about time.

A couple of pretty priceless comments are made by the governor.

One directed at Katie Couric from Palin: "Because Katie, you are not the center of everybody's universe"

The garbage pushed by the ladies on "The View" clearly upset the governor.

The media is going nuts today, attempting to defend themselves.

Good grief, we all saw the stories by the thousands and thousands and the outlandish story lines they pushed. Troopergate was one of those stories. We all know that her daughter was just abused and taunted by the likes of Tina Fey. The media has made Tina Fey out to be a hero because of their treatment of Palin. They are actually proud of themselves.

In a documentary entitled "Media Malpractice" Palin is giving it back to them. I cannot wait to see the entire documentary. Read Ziegler's websites here and here

The the MSM- the gig is up- America knows you are in the tank for the Democrats.

Now- we are going to call you out on your biased. Maybe someday you will once again develop some journalist ethics and integrity. Until then, take everything they say with a grain of salt.

Kenosha Casino Project is dead

Again.

Kenosha News

The federal government officially said “no” to the Menominee Nation’s Kenosha casino project Wednesday.

Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne rejected the tribe’s land-into-trust application for the project, citing its noncompliance with 2008 guidelines that discourage approval of off-reservation casinos outside of a “commutable distance” from a tribe’s reservation.

I don't believe this comes as a shock to anyone paying attention for the last two years. The moment Dennis Troha was indicted for illegal campaign contributions, the casino project was in a precarious position.

The accusations and criminal proceedings surrounding elected officials in Kenosha and throughout Wisconsin has severely tainted this project.

People got greedy.

The Menominee Tribe continues to push the issue forward in hopes that the casino project moves forward with the Obama administration.

Perhaps now is a good time to start over again and redo this project the right way.

Oh what a tangled Blago web...

Okay- now the real truth about Blago and Burris relationship is coming out.

First, even though Burris has denied a relationship with Blago, turns out Burris had a fundraiser in his home for Blago in 2006.

MyFOXChicago.com reports that Burris -- the former Illinois attorney
general who has been appointed by Blagojevich to fill President-elect Barack
Obama's vacated U.S. Senate seat -- held a 2006 fundraiser for the
governor at his home.

Burris and his lobbying firm also donated $22,295 to Blagojevich's
campaign, according to MyFOXChicago.com.

Second, turns out Blago's wife was hired by Burris' lobbying partner.

And Burris' longtime lobbying partner Fred Lebed is a board member of the
Christian Industrial League -- the same group that hired Blagojevich's wife
Patricia.

Lebed has denied having any involvement in the hiring of the governor's
wife.

Of course, denials all around of any wrong doing.

So the drama continues.

Also, Diane Feinstein has backed the seating of Burris...going against Barack Obama and Harry Reid.

Tuesday, January 06, 2009

Even liberals should laugh at this...

Blago staffers are teaching an ethics class.

As legislators weigh impeaching Gov. Rod Blagojevich and federal prosecutors prepare to indict him on corruption charges, his acting chief of staff and a deputy governor will be keynote speakers Wednesday at an "Ethics in the Workplace" seminar for some 200 state employees.

It is Illinois, so I am guessing that they are teaching folks not only about the ethics laws, but also how to better get away with breaking them .(Blago must have missed the "how to get away with it" portion of the class)

H/T Michelle Malkin

Al Queda blames Obama

The heat is coming fast and furious.

The speaker, identified as Ayman al-Zawahiri, addresses Muslims in Gaza. He said the violence "is one part of a series of a crusade war against Islam and these air strikes are a gift from Obama before he takes office, and (Egyptian President) Hosni Mubarak, that traitor, is the main partner in your siege and killing."

This is no more Obama's fault than it is Bush's fault.

This is proof that the WOT is not over. We must remain vigilant.

Perhaps now we will actually see some leadership out of Obama. So far, not a word.

Constitution supports Burris

I know there are some Dems that do not like it, even Barack Obama...but Burris needs to keep making whatever spectacle he can if he wants to be a senator.

Burris was legally appointed and I believe a court of law will back him up.

I think the longer this drags out, the more foolish Senator Reid and President elect Obama look because they will not support him. I understand that this is not the man that most Americans want to replace Obama in that seat, but we still have a US Constitution.

For the Constitutional argument, read here.

The desire of Senate Democrats, and even Obama, to keep Blagojevich from picking the new senator from Illinois is understandable -- a federal attorney arrested the governor on charges of trying to sell the appointment for personal gain. Although Burris is untainted by the scandal, any selection made by Blagojevich is suspect.

But the taint of Blagojevich's alleged crimes does not justify ignoring the Constitution.

Of course, the guy gets political and beats on Bush too, but the I believe the argument is the correct one.

I wanna be like Sarah

While checking out cafepress.com I found this cute shirt.Maybe I should get one for my daughter; I'd love to see the look on her ultra-liberal teacher's face ...

Secretary of Senate refuses Burris

Here we go...The political wrangling has begun:
Secretary of the Senate Nancy Erickson has rejected Roland Burris'
appointment to the Senate, an aide to the secretary told CNN.

Erickson rejected Burris' appointment because his certificate of
appointment was missing the signature of Illinois Secretary of State Jesse
White, the aide said Monday.

Rule 2 of the Standing Rules of the Senate states that the secretary of
state must sign the certificate of election along with the governor.

White has declined to sign the certificate, siding with some Senate
Democrats who say Burris should not be seated because of the cloud over Illinois
Gov. Rod Blagojevich, who is accused of trying to sell President-elect Barack
Obama's Senate seat.

The embattled governor last week appointed Burris to fill the seat.

I am not sure if the Senate can refuse Burris. I guess we will see. Reid keeps saying they can refuse Burris, but legal experts disagree.

The Vanity of our Elected Leaders

There is just so much that is wrong with this statement made by Harry Reid. One thing is perfectly clear, our elected leaders are full of themselves.

Under the Constitution, Reid said, "we determine who sits in the Senate. And the House determines who sits in the House.

"So there's clearly legal authority for us to do whatever we want to do. This goes back for generations."

How do you do that?

How do you take the people out of the process?

Is Hillary next under the bus?

H/T Boots and Sabers

I missed this story yesterday. Apparently, Hillary is dealing with the same type of "pay for play" accusations as Richardson and Blago are dealing with:

An upstate New York developer donated $100,000 to former President Bill Clinton’s foundation in November 2004, around the same time that Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton helped secure millions of dollars in federal assistance for the businessman’s mall project.

Mrs. Clinton helped enact legislation allowing the developer, Robert J. Congel, to use tax-exempt bonds to help finance the construction of the Destiny USA entertainment and shopping complex, an expansion of the Carousel Center in Syracuse.

Mrs. Clinton also helped secure a provision in a highway bill that set aside $5 million for Destiny USA roadway construction.

MSM spinning for Richardson and Obama

Richardson's public life imperfect but resilient

Seriously, if you think the MSM is attempting to pad Obama's fall from grace, you are probably right after reading the above headline from the AP. Now check out how quickly many of these other headlines are attempting to spin Obama's pick for Department of Commerce , Bill Richardson.

CNN-Bill Richardson bows out of commerce secretary job

I guess Richardson is bowing out instead of resigning in disgrace.

MSNBC/AP- Richardson withdraws as Commerce nominee, New Mexico governor cites pending investigation of business dealings

Business dealing? How about illegal campaign contributions, which is what they appear to be.

Read inside the article and you will see this little gem from MSNBC/AP

The president-elect has remained above the fray in both the case of arrested Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich and the New Mexico case.
Above the fray? Yeah, right!

Of course, the Washington Post had to jump on that "business dealings" stuff.

New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson has withdrawn his name from consideration as commerce secretary for President-elect Barack Obama, citing an ongoing investigation about business dealings in his state.

To the credit of the Washington Post, they are not letting Obama off as easily as everyone else.

The decision is the first serious political hit for one of Obama's Cabinet nominees and comes just as confirmation hearings begin next week.

With these types of problems as the President elect, imagine how many issues you will have when he is the actual President.
