Drunk Driving: Wisconsin is the worst in the nation

Worst in the nation and nobody wants to talk about it.

Why is that?

Do we like ou beer so much in this state that we are not willing to even try and do something about the staggering statistics?

Of all the deaths in traffic accidents last year, 42% of them had alcohol involved.

It's no surprise Wisconsin tops the list of worst states for drinking and driving, state and local officials say.

What they don't necessarily agree on is how to fix it.

The Badger State ranks 51st — behind all other states and the District of Columbia — in a recently issued Mothers Against Drunk Driving state progress report that looks at the percentage of traffic fatalities involving a drunken driver.

There were 305 drunken driving deaths in Wisconsin in 2006, according to the report. Those crashes made up 42.1 percent of total state traffic fatalities.
