It's super official now

Former Wisconsin Governor Tommy Thompson is running for President.

Tommy Thompson formally entered the presidential race Sunday with an assertion that he fills two voids in the Republican field: He is "the reliable conservative" and he has creative ideas.

"All that people have to do is look at my record, and I am the one individual that they can count on," the former member of President Bush's Cabinet and four-term Wisconsin governor said on ABC's This Week.

"People feel Republicans lost their way in Washington," particularly by spending too much money, Thompson said. He added that Republicans are not coming up with "original new ideas."

Prior to last year this news would have excited me. Now after flirting with the idea of running again for Governor here and not doing it and flirting with the idea of running for the US Senate and not doing it, it does nothing for me.

Also his not knowing the Iraqi government is already working on an oil revenue-sharing plan with their country's regions and the fact that he thinks Alberto Gonzales should be fired, both make me question whether Tommy's time has come and gone. He holds no special appeal to me as a Presidental candidate. He would do better to stay in private industry.
