The committee on committees

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is poking fun at the committees that have been created by the new Senate Majority Leader Judy Robson

Coming soon: The Committee on Committees

From the looks of things, it appears that Senator Robson ran around to each Democratic senator and asked them which committee they wanted to head. She then created a committee just for these senators.

For example:

Q: What do biotech, veterans and banks have in common?

A: They'll all be overseen by one Senate committee to be headed next year by incoming Sen. Jim Sullivan (D-Wauwatosa).

Incoming Senate Majority Leader Judy Robson (D-Beloit) today released what committees will be formed when the new session starts next month, and Sullivan's committee isn't the only one that will keep an eye on a hodgepodge of issues. For instance, there's also the Committee on Campaign Finance Reform, Rural Issues and Information Technology.

I cannot help but notice that my own personal democratic senator, Bob Wirch, was given the prestigious title as head of "Small Business, Emergency Preparedness, Workforce Development, Technical Colleges and Consumer Protection".

Huh?

Perhaps Senator Wirch should have been named to head the "defending government goodies and give-away" committee.

I think Senator Wirch has earned this prestigious title after defending spending $232,500 a year on giving away free state maps:

"People pay a lot of taxes in this state," said Wirch, who gives out thousands of maps each year. "I think they've got a right to get a map. . . . They'd have to pay for it, otherwise."
