I have pretty much stayed out of the debate on Eugene Kane's blind defense of Michael McGee.
It is much easier to completely ignore Eugene Kane's columns altogether. Quite frankly, Kane's continued defense of thuggery, has made it very easy to ignore him.
The title of today's Kane column has once again sucked me back in.
McGee bail is game of bait and switch
Of course, Eugene Kane is once again implying that Michael McGee Jr. is the victim.
Kane is working so hard to defend McGee that some of the stuff he is saying is no longer making sense-
Apparently, McGee's tendency to flout the rules of the court even behind bars convinced Randa he wouldn't follow instructions not to contact possible witnesses. The end result - McGee behind bars for the foreseeable future - served as stunning confirmation for McGee supporters that when some people talk about "justice," what they mean is "just us."
Well, duh! Of course McGee's reputation for ignoring court rules is exactly the reason McGee cannot be trusted to follow the rules!
Is the judge supposed to completely ignore McGee's past and present behavior when making a decision on bail?
Are you kidding me?
It it exactly the duty and responsibility of a judge to consider past and present behavior when making a decision on releasing someone on bail!
A judge must consider the rights of the victims, the rights of the potential witnesses, and the rights of the community and their safety. McGee's rights are not the only ones to consider.
Perhaps someone should tell Eugene Kane that there appears to be a trail of victims scattered all over the 6th district of Milwaukee.
Apparently, the victims and their rights mean nothing to Eugene Kane. In fact, the rest of Milwaukee's 6th district mean nothing to Eugene Kane.
If they did, Kane would at least give the victims and the 6th district community a bit of consideration before whining about McGee's rights.
Has Kane even bothered to consider how the victims of the 6th district might feel about the his constant defense of McGee's actions?
Kane certainly seems to care about McGee's followers. That is okay. But has Kane ever once stopped and thought about how the victims must feel?

Could the Democrats that claimed that 1700 teachers would lose their jobs because of the Assembly Republicans budget please step forward with their evidence-
If it becomes law, the GOP budget by mid-2009 would force the layoff of more than 1,700 teachers statewide, including 199 in Milwaukee Public Schools, Democrats said.

Thank you, Assembly Republicans
You stopped the massive tax increases. At least you have stopped them for now.
Over the last several months, Republicans have been taking a beating for moving away from their fiscal roots.
Poll after poll has shown that most Americans want government to control their horrifying spending habits. Too many state Republicans had moved away from their fiscal conservative values and continued to over-spend taxpayer dollars.
Among other reasons, this is why Republicans took a beating during last year’s elections.
Well, folks- Assembly Republicans took to heart the message that voters were sending them and did something about the out of control spending. They cut spending in Wisconsin.
They also cut the Senate Democrats and Governor Doyle’s record-breaking tax increases.
The newly released budget by the Assembly Republicans shows signs of returning to our conservative roots.
It is not perfect, but it is a huge step in the right direction.
I could not help but giggle at the reaction from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Yesterday- MJS was making the standard claim that education funding would suffer a huge cut under the Republican’s budget plan. As it turns out, the massive cuts were not there.
In am a little curious as to why the governor’s office is claiming that the Republican’s budget would make schools “poorer”-
Administration Secretary Michael Morgan, Doyle's top aide, said, "This is a plan for poorer schools for our kids and fewer police and firefighters for our neighborhoods."
In fact, spending for schools K-12 actually went up from what the Governor’s budget had proposed.
The Governor had promised two-thirds funding for schools, but he did not deliver on that promise.
It appears that the Republicans fulfilled the commitment to two-thirds funding for our schools since the governor could not handle this without raising taxes even higher.
What in the world, will WEAC complain about now? I am certain they will find something.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has changed its tune today. Now they are complaining about decreasing funding to municipalities. They are still complaining about school funding, just not as bad as they were yesterday.
The Assembly Republicans also did something about the attack that the Democrats and Governor Doyle have launched on Wisconsin’s senior citizens.
It was stunning that the Governor and the Senate Democrats decided that they should raise the fees on Wisconsin’s seniors.
There was not a single tax or fee increase I resented more than the increase to the bed tax that the Senate Democrats and Governor Doyle insisted on passing onto some of Wisconsin’s most vulnerable citizens.
How could they ever consider doing this to Wisconsin seniors?
Well, anyway- the Assembly Republican cut this democrat fee increase from the budget.
Assembly Republicans also reduced the taxes on senior citizens-
The budget also would provide several tax cuts, creating deductions and credits for health savings accounts, retirement income and workplace wellness programs.
Now the real fight begins.

The Republican-controlled state Assembly is expected to take up their version of the budget tomorrow, Tuesday, July 10. Assembly Republicans will hold true to their promise of showing Democrats what a no tax increase budget looks like.
After the Assembly passes their budget free of excessive spending and tax hikes, the differences between the Senate and Assembly budgets will be settled by a conference committee made up of Party leaders from both houses later this summer.
Fellow Republicans, we must convince Governor Doyle and legislative Democrats that we must hold the line on spending and tax hikes for the sake of Wisconsin taxpayers. What isn't funny is that I actually believe in conservation. Yes, I am a conservative Republican and despite what the media and Al Gore portrays, I believe in preserving the land that God has so graciously lent us.
In fact, most Americans probably agree with me. Most of us believe that we can all do a little more to take care of our environment and do the little things like recycle, car pool, etc...
Especially here in America, we love our parks, beaches and the open land. We don't want to see them turned into garbage pits where animals and people are dead or dying.
However, in one foul-mouthed weekend, Al Gore, Madonna, pretty boy Bon Jovi and all the so called stars managed to turn conservation into one big joke.
Instead of this being an issue we can all come together on, these stars have turned the issue of conservation into a political weapon. They have used their junk science to shove global warming down our throats.
I mean, really, this should never have happened.
I remember the days as a child of Woodsy the Owl and his "Give a hoot, don't pollute" moniker. It was such a simple concept, but it stuck with people. It wasn't political. It wasn't angry or harsh. 30 years later, I still remember Woodsy.
If Al Gore and Madonna truly want to help, they need to bug off and let Woodsy the Owl take over. The liberals have taken a simple concept and destroyed it with their junk science and anger.

Amazingly if you raise taxes, taxes go up.
County-wide increases in the gross property tax levy in southeastern Wisconsin ranged from 1.4% in Ozaukee County to 8.1% in Racine County.
The statewide gross tax levy this year increased 4.6% over 2006. Both regionally and across the state, it was rising school levies that propelled the overall increase in property tax collections.
While county and municipal levies are limited under a state formula that takes into account new growth in a community, school taxes are governed by different rules that often allow for larger increases. School districts have also been passing larger referendums for building projects.
In southeastern Wisconsin, that meant a gross increase of 7.1% in school property tax collections while counties and municipalities held their increases to about 2%. Statewide, the gap was less wide: school districts went up 5.5% while local governments and counties rose about 3%.

I am thinking maybe, Rosario Dawson is severely limiting herself-
Rosario Dawson said backstage that not only is she "that person who turns off the light every time I walk out of a room," but that she'd seriously question dating anybody who isn't green.
Being the helpful person that I am, I am thinking, perhaps, Rosario Dawson should expand her dating color choices a bit more.

Hypocrites!
Do you think these so called "stars" realize that they look like hypocrites when the do stuff like this?
Watching the veteran star lap up the adoration, her entourage could, however, be forgiven for exchanging slightly jaded glances - having witnessed her jet in for the concert from New York.
For her 2006 World Tour, she flew by private jet, transporting a team of up to 100 technicians and dancers around the globe. Waiting in the garage at home, she has a Mercedes Maybach, two Range Rovers, an Audi A8 and a Mini Cooper S.
Indeed, Madonna's carbon footprint is dwarfed only by her ego - she has vowed that she will 'speak to the planet' at Wembley. In fact, an apology might be in order - for the superstar's energy consumption is only the tip of the iceberg in this epic vanity-fest.
The Live Earth event is, in the words of one commentator: "a massive, hypocritical fraud".
For while the organisers' commitment to save the planet is genuine, the very process of putting on such a vast event, with more than 150 performers jetting around the world to appear in concerts from Tokyo to Hamburg, is surely an exercise in hypocrisy on a grand scale.

Perhaps Sheryl Crow is planning on cutting back on her toilet paper usage in order to cover for her jetting around the world to do a "green" concert.

I know this piggy is kinda cute, but adding pork to the state budget is not!
The Wisconsin State Journal gets it!
Senate Democrats brought out their list of wants in a budget amendment that distributes about $3 million in political favors, known as pork, to several communities.
Included was $2 million for a Hmong cultural center in Dane County, up to $500,000 for an exhibit at a city-run Civil War museum in Kenosha, $250,000 to the Painters and Allied Trades union training program, up to $50,000 to move and restore an old bridge in Forest County, and $50,000 each to Eau Claire, Green Bay and Ashwaubenon to fix ice arenas.
All wants. No needs.

Democrats and their ultimate power grab
Health care.
The state Senate Democrats have done it. This is their ultimate power grab.
There is no higher grab for power that this. The Democrats want control over your life.
When it comes to health care- lives are at stake. Real living, breathing human lives are at stake.
Think about this for a moment. Each and every single person in the state of Wisconsin will be forced to put their very lives on the line and hand that power over to the state government.
The government will decide whether or not you receive the care you deem necessary. You give up your own medical decisions and hand the decision making process over to the government.
You no longer have control over decisions made with your doctors, nurses and other medical staff, because these folks no longer work for the patient, ultimately these medical personel work for the government. If doctors and nurses want to get paid- they do what they are told by the government.
What is so stunning about this power grab is how many Democrats are going along with this plan. They are the party that embraces abortion. They claim that no one has the power to tell a women what she should do with her very own body.
Why then, are these Democrats so willing to hand over every single medical procedure to the government and let them decide what is right for their bodies?
I know the Democrats are making the claim that they are just looking out for us. They really have our own best interests at heart.
Baloney!
They want the power!
If you look at the rest of this budget, you can clearly see that the Democrats are determined to take more and more of our hard earned money. Now they want us to believe that ultimately they are trying to save us money by taking over our health care?
The question that every single Wisconsinite has to ask themselves- Are you willing to hand over your life and place it in the hands of our state government?
I can answer that question for myself- Under no circumstances am I willing to do this. Not for a Republican, not for a Democrat, not anyone!
We can talk about the money aspect of this, and I will discuss it further, but the problem is bigger than money- this is about power. This is about your life.
Are you willing to place you life in the hands of the government?
The Senate Democrats have already voted to give themselves the ulitmate power over the lives of Wisconsinites.
The good news is for those of us that want to keep control over our own lives, is that some of the power hungry, money grabbing Democrats are up for reelection next year.
I am more fired up than ever to remove these Democrats from power.
Yes, Senator Bob Wirch, I am talking about you.
Thank you Governor Doyle, Senator Wirch and all the rest of the Democrats for pulling the Republican party together and giving them a reason to fight!
The state Senate Democrats have done it. This is their ultimate power grab.
There is no higher grab for power that this. The Democrats want control over your life.
When it comes to health care- lives are at stake. Real living, breathing human lives are at stake.
Think about this for a moment. Each and every single person in the state of Wisconsin will be forced to put their very lives on the line and hand that power over to the state government.
The government will decide whether or not you receive the care you deem necessary. You give up your own medical decisions and hand the decision making process over to the government.
You no longer have control over decisions made with your doctors, nurses and other medical staff, because these folks no longer work for the patient, ultimately these medical personel work for the government. If doctors and nurses want to get paid- they do what they are told by the government.
What is so stunning about this power grab is how many Democrats are going along with this plan. They are the party that embraces abortion. They claim that no one has the power to tell a women what she should do with her very own body.
Why then, are these Democrats so willing to hand over every single medical procedure to the government and let them decide what is right for their bodies?
I know the Democrats are making the claim that they are just looking out for us. They really have our own best interests at heart.
Baloney!
They want the power!
If you look at the rest of this budget, you can clearly see that the Democrats are determined to take more and more of our hard earned money. Now they want us to believe that ultimately they are trying to save us money by taking over our health care?
The question that every single Wisconsinite has to ask themselves- Are you willing to hand over your life and place it in the hands of our state government?
I can answer that question for myself- Under no circumstances am I willing to do this. Not for a Republican, not for a Democrat, not anyone!
We can talk about the money aspect of this, and I will discuss it further, but the problem is bigger than money- this is about power. This is about your life.
Are you willing to place you life in the hands of the government?

Things We Thought We’d Never See at the Tax Foundation, But Thanks to the Wisconsin Senate ….
- state legislative body has voted to double its tax collections in one year.
The Wisconsin Senate passed a budget plan to increase taxes $15.2 billion in fiscal year 2009. That would more than double Wisconsin's tax collections of $13.8 billion in fiscal year 2006, according to the latest available data from the Census Bureau.
- A state legislative body has voted to raise taxes by almost the same amount as the state's taxpayers send to the federal government in income tax payments.
The $15.2 billion tax increase is only slightly less than the $15.8 billion Wisconsin taxpayers sent to the IRS for income taxes in 2005. And that's just the increase!
- A state legislative body has voted a tax increase equivalent to 50 percent of general fund revenue. See Table 1.
