For the second day in a row, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is touting Governor Jim Doyle as a centrist.
Doyle proposals are generally centrist, and rival Green sees some role for the state.
Doyle's non-majority election win, Republican Legislature have given policies a centrist bent
This deserves a larger response and I will later.
Perhaps the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel actually believe that Jim Doyle's repeated vetoing of a property tax freeze is what the people of Wisconsin actually want. MJS would be wrong in this belief because poll numbers suggest that over 70% of Wisconsin actually want property tax relief. A real centrist would not veto property tax relief.
Perhaps the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel actually believe that Jim Doyle's repeated vetoing of voter ID is what the people of Wisconsin actually want. MJS would be wrong in their belief because poll numbers suggest that over 70% of Wisconsin actually want some type of voter ID. A real centrist would not voter ID, as Governor Jim Doyle has done.
I also know that the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel should not be allowed to judge whether or not someone is a centrist. Why? Clearly the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is no where near the political center themselves.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel continuous demands that government should INCREASE OUR TAXES, proves that they are no where near the political center.
At the same time, their proposals are incremental reforms. Neither candidate has proposed raising taxes to help provide health insurance to people in low-wage jobs or to people with pre-existing medical conditions.
How many people, in the political center, actually believe that their taxes should be increased?
